18. World's Largest Atlas Cedar Tree?
There are only three true cedar trees and this is possibly the world's largest Atlas Cedar. The nodding crest is an identifying characteristic. Even though the species is native to the Himalyas, the Atlas usually doesn't top eighty feet. Possibly it was planted in response to Sherwood's 1893 Tree Planting Ordinance (which specified maple trees). According to recent editions of the Guiness Book of World Records, the World's Largest American Chestnut Tree is also in the Sherwood mailing district.
