Sweet and Slippery, or, Human's Nature
by Mary Elizabeth Otte

Mango nectar
Nectarines
Honey in my herbal teas
Raindrops from a clear blue sky
Wet my lips
The taste wont dry
Azure shadows
Mocking birds
Reminding us
These flavors heard
The smack of lips
And teeth just licked
The sticky center
Of ripe plum pit.
Sweaty bodies
Showered dried
Powdered pampered
Made up
Tried
Matching natures
Natural beauty
All hopped up
On fragrenced duty
Lemon soaps

Vanilla mists
Lip balm named
Orange Blossom Kiss.
Love me tender
Love me naught
Shower me with chocolates
The green money bought.
Sprinkle me with sugar
(in the raw)
Rub me down
A Siren's breath draw.
Sage and savory
Botanical bliss
If it's a kiss you want
You're sure to miss.
Skipping gaily
Catch if you can!
The girl can run
The boy, he ran.
Lavender oil
Oiled shoulders
Work them out,
They've moved boulders
Carry the weight
Of my world
On a stick
With one hand
There's no balance
So I had to be quick.
But oh the soothe
Of the ylang-ylang bath
Tickles my fancy
Obtains a laugh
The cackle of a girl
Set loose in a world
That is narrowing quickly
She wants her last gaff
So she gathers up pearls
Expects no money back.
Sweet honey toast
Is enough for the lack
Of butter.
Life need not be fat
To be better.
